Halloween is the time to decorate your homes, showcase your creativity and have fun with the family. For crocheters, there is so much to make just with your crochet hooks and yarn. To make the festivities all the more special, we have brought to you some easy and quick crochet patterns for Halloween. Of course, you would love to have those plump pumpkins, throw and more, but if you are short of time, we’ve got you covered.
Just gather your supplies. You’ll need:
- Crochet Hook – Choose any crochet hook (single-ended or Tunisian) you own. Tunisian crochet hooks work like regular hooks unless you attach them with an interchangeable cord. Just make sure to have the right size. You’ll get the information on the yarn label or it is recommended to crochet a gauge swatch.
- Yarn – For these crochet patterns you can use any yarn you have in your stash or get yourself the right colors and weight according to the swatch.

1. Spooky Skulls
Whether as a table decoration, granny square, or pot holder, spooky crochet skulls make for a glamorous project. You can easily make this in a couple of minutes.
- Start with the eyeholes by CH 15 sts and connect them to a ring. Again CH 15 and connect in the same loop as the first ring. Make 20 SC around each ring, plus 3 SC around both rings. Connect them firmly.
- Continue with the nose hole and jawline by making 3 slip st. from the middle of the circles to the right, CH 5, and connect the loop on the other side of the eyeholes. CH 4 is the first stitch of the jaw and teeth. Make 5 TR. now, Make 4 SC around the last triple stitch, 2 SC into the corner, 4 SC, 2SC into the opp. corner, and 4 SC around the opp. post.
- Work the outline by making 1 SC into every stitch of the eyeholes, and 2 SC into every 3rd stitch. When you reach the middle of the brow, work 1 HDC, 2 DC, 1 HDC to get an even brow.
- Shape the forehead with 3 rows of SC on top of the brow, decreasing 1 st. on each side.
2. Cute Ghosts
Ghost-shaped coasters make for lovely Halloween decor. You can quickly crochet worked in the round and shaped with triple crochets, top and bottom.
- Start with Ch 5 and connect with Sl. st. to a circle.
- Ch 1 and place 13 SC around the circle and connect via sl. st.
- Make 2 SC into every stitch for the next 2 rounds
- Make 2 SC into every 3rd st.
- Change color and make 1 DC into every st., and 2 DC into every 4th st.
- Make 1 SC into every st. and 2 SC into every 5th st.
- Make 1 DC into every st. and 2 DC into every 5th st.
- Shape the top Ch. 1, and work 3 SC into every st. 2 SC into the next st., 3 hDC into the next 3 st., 2 DC into next st., 3 DC into next 3 st., 1 TR into next st. 2 TR into next st. Then reverse stitches from here until ending with 3 SC. Cut the yarn end and weave in with a finishing needle or repair hook.
- Place a stitch marker on the bottom part of the circle, opposite the top treble crochets. Work 2 TR crochets into one st., 2 TR into next 2 st., 3 DC into next 3 st., 2 SC into next st., 4 SC into next 4 st., 2 SC into next st., 3 DC into next 3 st., 2 TR into next 2 st., 2 TR into next stitch. Cut yarn and make sure to weave in yarn ends.
3. Spiderwebs
This easy Halloween crochet project is fun to make. With basically some geometry and chain stitches you can create some spooky spiderwebs.
Make a CH 14 and form them into a ring with 1 sl.st. in the first chain stitch.
Now work 1 TR and 6 CH around the ring. Repeat until you have 5 DC.
Ch. 4, then work 1 DC into each DC stitch and the middle of the lower chains with 5 ch. in between the strings.
Ch. 4 and work Tr. into each DC and 1 Tr in the middle of each string with 8 ch in between.
Repeat as many rounds as you like, increasing the number of ch by 3 for each string between the Tr.
Make the last round with 6 CH more in each string than the round before.
4. Spiders
How can we miss out the spooky spiders on Halloween? Just follow our guide.
Start with 4 ch. and form a ring.
Round 1: 6 SC around the ring
Round 2: 2 SC into every stitch of previous round
Round 3 & 4: 1 SC into every stitch
Round 5: 1 decrease every second stitch. Insert your hook and pull yarn through, insert hook in next stitch and pull yarn through, grab yarn and pull through all 3 loops.)= 6 st.
Round 6: 1 decrease every 2nd st. = 3 st.
Round 7: 2 SC into every st. = 6 st.
Round 8: 1 SC into every st.
Round 9: 1 decrease every 2nd st. = 3 st.
For six legs crochet 3 chains of 18 - 22 CH. Sew them under the spider belly.
